"I take care of the little details, because that's where the dangers are the greatest"
So that you can get an idea of what it's like during an internship for students or graduates at DEKRA, we conducted an interview with Thomas Denhard. Thomas is a university graduate and is currently undergoing internal training at DEKRA.
How do you make the world a safer place?
By ensuring that German roads will be safer. That fewer accidents with serious consequences take place. And, for example, by showing schoolchildren how well (or how poorly) a lorry driver can really see them and making them aware of the dangers.
What does your typical day look like?
At the moment, I'm learning a lot for my internal training at DEKRA - legal requirements of road traffic regulations, construction and operation of vehicles, the work that experts do. And, of course, I also inspect vehicles and actively participate in traffic safety campaigns (together with the Road Safety Association in Essen).
What does safety mean to you?
It's a good feeling to be able move without danger and without risks.
Why do you work at DEKRA?
Because DEKRA stands for safety in many areas - not just in the automotive field. As an employee, I can take the security that DEKRA gives me personally and apply it outside the company.
What kind of people actually make up the DEKRA team?
The atmosphere is relaxed and friendly. As a new employee, you're immediately integrated in the team.
